　　Letter of Recommendation

　　• 推薦信是寫給單位，學校等介紹或說明應聘或求學人 員情況的信件。它從第三方的角度向用人單位或學校 提供有關當事人的必要信息或推薦意見，推薦信一般 包括以下內容：

　　• 1. 應聘者的姓名，個人素質，工作態度和學習成績; • 2. 與推薦人之間的.關系，相識時間及相知的程度 • 3. 推薦人態度明確地支持接受應聘者。

　　• 推薦信最主要的兩點是： • 1.推薦人(referee/reference)要有一 定的聲望和地位， • 2. 信的內容要突出被推薦人的優點或 特長。 • 開頭的稱呼可以泛泛的用To Whom It May Concern，不涉及具體的人或 單位。

　　推薦信中常用詞語及表達方式

　　• 在推薦信中可以用一些褒義詞來描述被推薦人，

　　• • • • 例如： 描述能力可以用capable, talented, outstanding, competent, ambitious; 描述工作勤奮可以用diligent, industrious, hardworking; 描述品行可以用cheerful, honest, helpful, kind-hearted, generous, devoted, faithful, persistent, humorous, creative, inventive, etc.

　　推薦信中常用詞語及表達方式

　　• 在推薦信的結尾，常用以下句子表達“本人愿 意鄭重推薦或證明XXX能勝任XXX，懇請考 慮或試用為盼”之意。 • 1. I should appreciate it very much if you would consider her candidacy favorably. • 2. I sincerely hope you will give him favorable consideration. • I hope you will give this recommendation your best consideration.

　　Dear Mr. Williams, I would like to have the honor of introducing my student, Liu Yi to you. Miss Liu is studying in our university and she is graduating soon. I understand that Miss Liu has planned to go to study at your university for her M.A degree. Miss Liu is very clever and is always ready to help others. From what I know of her, I am sure that she will become one of the top students in your university and a good assistant to you if she can be accepted.
