1.corner n. 角(落)，(街道)拐角 vt. 逼人困境
around the corner 在街角附近
例句：Just around the coner there's another drugstore.

round the corner 快到了，將要來臨(drawing near，coming soon)
例句：1.Christmas is round the coner.
圣誕節(jié)快到了。
2.Cheer up! Maybe something better is round the coner.

例句:Sam and Joan have bought the green house on the corner.

2.bill n.帳單;紙幣;法案

3.figure n.人影，輪廓 v.指出
figure out弄清楚，明白;算出;想出(try to understand; calculate)
例句：1.I can't figure out what's wrong with my watch. It was just a month ago that I had it repaired.
我想不出我的表出了什么毛病，一個(gè)月之前我剛剛找人修過。
2.This mcrchine has many buttons. I can't figure out which one make it run.

4.give vt.給;送給;贈(zèng)送;給予;歸還
put/give one's mind to 集中注意力于…
例句：If he would only put his mind to his schoolwork，he would make a brilliant student.
如果他能夠把精力集中到學(xué)習(xí)上的話，他一定會(huì)成為一個(gè)好學(xué)生。
give sb...days' extention 允許某人延期幾天(論文.任務(wù)等)(allow more days for a person to finish; paper, task, etc.)
例句：If Prof. Brown was willing to give us three days'extention to finish the paper, maybe he should give us a few more days.
如果布朗教授愿意給我們延期三天完成論文，也許他應(yīng)該再多給幾天。
5.ralse vt.升起;舉起
ralse the roof 吵翻天，特別生氣(同義習(xí)語：hit the roof.hit the ceiling)
A:I borrowed Peter's favorite pen and I've lost it.
A:我借了彼得最喜歡的筆，可是我把它弄丟了。
B:When he finds out, he will really raise the roof.
B:他要是知道了，他一定會(huì)吵翻天的。
6.repair vt.修理;修補(bǔ)。
repair shop 修理鋪
例句：My bike is still in the repair shop.

7.start n.驚起，吃驚 Vt.開始
start with 以...開始(have ... as the beginning)
A:Do you know Jim works as a dish-washer at a restaurant around the corner)

B:It isn't a bad job to start with.

start off 開始( start out, set out, begin)

1.classical adj.經(jīng)典的
classical music 古典音樂

5.turn out 結(jié)果是，證明為(to happen to be in the end, prove to be)
例句：1.The electric drill turned out to be a fake product.

2.The experiment tumed out to be a success.
結(jié)果證明實(shí)驗(yàn)成功了。
